Annual corporate events take a lot of resources to plan. From the hotel bookings, travel, guests of honor, keynote speakers, entertainment, food, etc. these events are made to be memorable. That's why proper photography coverage can be a huge asset. This particular event for Axis Communications, a global leader in security technology, took place at La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, CA. It was an epic three days at one of the most beautiful resorts in Southern California.
September and October are the busiest months of the year for us, and I arrived in San Diego after photographing a gorgeous wedding in Moab, Utah. Not being used to the travel, I flew in a day early just to catch up on some sleep before the event. I'm glad I did because I'm not sure I've ever walked as much as I did at this three day event.
Axis hit the ground running with the welcome dinner party. The poolside view at sunset was spectacular, the reggae band set the mood and a master cigar roller was on hand for guests to enjoy. The next morning started early with a program full with speakers; followed by lunch and a short break before the discussion panels began. Day two was split between golf and training sessions. And we also had to deal with a bit of rain, which in Southern California is pretty rare.
The award dinner ended a great event, but I had one more task. I needed to complete a small booklet for nearly 400 attendees and have them printed, bound and delivered by 6am. Sleeping was going to have to wait, but fortunately I found a great printing company that really impressed me. Doug over at Alphagraphics in Carlsbad, CA did an incredible job and I was thrilled. The majority of the attendees were leaving bright and early, and they got to take a small booklet showing a handful of images from the previous 3 days.
